Okay, so this is a little more daunting, but you're doing the same thing you did on your author page - entering the text specific to your story.

In the first line from the top, replace "Enter Your Story Title Here" with your title. This is the title of your main story or series, so don't put any chapter numbers or subtitles here yet. To the left of your title should be (:title and to the right should be :).

For the third and fourth lines, choose whether your story is gen or adult and delete the categorization that doesn't apply - (:thingie2: newstorygen:) or (:thingie2: newstoryadult:).

In the fifth line from the top, replace "Write story summary here." with a one or two line description of your story. To the left of your description should be (:description and to the right should be :).

Now we get down to those crazy bars.

  • In the ||!TITLE: section, replace "Enter Your Story Title Here" with the text you used in the title section above.
  • In the ||!AUTHOR: section, replace "Enter your name here" with your full name.
  • In the ||!CATEGORY/TYPE: section are a whole slew of search terms that might apply to your story. Delete the terms that don't apply and add terms that do apply. Be Careful not to delete the [[! in front of a term that does apply - that code tells your story title to appear on that Category page. You can also add search terms that you think may best represent your story in a search engine and help a reader to find it (like Romance, Tradgedy, Comedy, Humor, Angst, etc.). If enough people use a particular term, it will be turned into a category.
  • In the ||!RATING/WARNINGS: section, delete the terms that don't apply and add terms that do apply.
  • In the ||!MAIN CHARACTERS: section, list the names of main characters that a user might use as search terms.
  • In the ||!STATUS: section, remove the category that doesn't apply.

Click the SAVE button, then click the EDIT link on the upper right toolbar.

Don't worry about the commentbox code at the bottom of the page - that will provide readers with a comment box to leave comments about your story. Note - only logged in users can see the comment entry box and leave a comment, but all readers will be able to read comments.

If you don't want to have a commentbox on your story, please feel free to delete the entire line of code from the bottom of this page.

Now, here's the big question - is your work more than one chapter?

  • If the answer is NO, then
  1. Copy your html story document or work document and paste it in the blank line just before START READING HERE.
  2. Click the SAVE button.
  3. Click the EDIT link on the upper right toolbar.
  4. Delete all of the text from START READING HERE to END OF ONE CHAPTER STORY and hit SAVE.

You may have to play around a bit with the formatting of your document. If you don't like how it appears, you can cut and paste it a number of times until you get it just right - just make sure not to wipe out the page header. Once you've saved the story, the story name will automatically appear on your Author Page, as well as on the Category pages for each Type, Rating, and Status. And . . . you're done. You can return to the Author Help page and following the instructions in Step 2 again if you want to add another story.

  • If the answer is YES, then
  1. A little further down the page you'll see (:pagelist - replace the word "TITLEWORD" with the title of your story without spaces (titleofyourstory).
  2. Click the SAVE button.
  3. Click the EDIT link on the upper right toolbar.
  4. Delete the line of text "END OF ONE CHAPTER STORY"
  5. Delete all of the text from START READING HERE to END OF MULTIPLE CHAPTER STORY and hit SAVE.
  6. Return to the Author Help page and continue with Step 3.

END OF MULTIPLE CHAPTER STORY

END OF ONE CHAPTER STORY
